Although the air flotation technology is a traditional sewage treatment method, it has been used to this day, which indicates that it is very effective in sewage treatment. The entire working process of the air flotation technology is divided into four parts, namely, dissolved air, release of air, contact and separation of dissolved air water and raw water, and adjustment of raw water quality.
The primary step in air flotation technology is the dissolved air process, with jet ejector dissolved air and packed dissolved air being the most commonly used methods. The former offers advantages such as larger nozzles that are less prone to clogging, a more compact tank structure, and dissolved air efficiency independent of tank size, resulting in a smaller tank compared to conventional designs. However, its significant drawback lies in the relatively low operational efficiency of the ejector itself.
In contrast, the packing dissolved air method demonstrates higher efficiency, but its tank size is significantly larger than that of the jet dissolved air method, and its control process is more complex, which makes the tank prone to clogging. Additionally, the pump dissolved air method is also widely adopted by many domestic manufacturers in China.
The subsequent phase involves the degassing process of the air flotation technology. During this stage, appropriate degassing devices must be selected based on the specific water quality. From the perspective of air flotation efficiency, most degassing devices demonstrate comparable performance. The degassing efficiency and particle size are primarily determined through visual inspection.
The subsequent phase involves the contact and separation of dissolved air water with raw water in the air flotation process. The key technologies in this process are sand filter backwashing technology and the coordination between sand filtration and air flotation operations. Compared to other types of air flotation, vortex trough air flotation demonstrates distinct technical advantages and limitations. Its advantages include lower energy consumption, while the disadvantage lies in the requirement for bubbles to adhere to and dislodge large flocs.
After completion, the air flotation technology can proceed to the raw water quality adjustment process, which requires the use of certain chemicals. Driven by technological advancements, million-level polymer chemicals have emerged, significantly promoting the development of air flotation technology.
